I am back to normal and love my hair and Buffy the most. I have been mixing Curly Wurly and BIG shampoo and absolutely love it oh so much.
The biggest draw back of not having my product was how effective the product really is and how it made my hair feel and skin feel. Having good skin and hair also projected self confidence, I think this lacked a little during the deprivation time.
I believe most consumers are attracted to a product that reflects them, or they wish reflects them, and the consume it to feel confident and better about their every day life. This idea could also be carried on into the consumption of Facebook and Ipods. They are ways of helping us feel stable and confident.
I'm not exactly sure why I got so sick the other day. It would be crazy to think that it was because of the drastic change of heavily natural ingredient skin care heavily chemical based skincare for a week. Interesting to think about that though, if the emotional attachment to a product starts to affect the consumer physically.
Through this assignment I have not only understood why consumers are attached to certain brands but also learned more of an appreciation for my favorite skincare. This will help me spread my passion and love for LUSH to others and talk more in depth about the product its self.
Having gone through this also allows me to relate with my customers more too. It says to them, hey I am just like you, I am not here to judge and say I am better than you because I use nothing but LUSH. It will allow for me to say to them, OH yeah I understand, I have tried it and it doesn't work.
LOVE LUSH.

Last day..

Bad hair.
I have my products planned for tomorrow. I am skipping a shower tonight just to not have to use Bath and Body stuff.
I don't know if I mentioned before that I didn't get a chance to blog for a day or so because of work and birthday celebration.
Anyway, I am very sick right now. I threw up pretty bad and have been nauseous for 9 hours now. I'm starting to wonder if its my physical reaction to having no LUSH on my body for a week. HAHA, I am just kidding. I have a bug.
Tomorrow I will be mixing Big shampoo, which is my usual shampoo, with Curly Wurly, a shampoo I have only use twice before. This little trick is something a trainer from corporate showed me while she was asking what I missed most during my week of self-deprivation.
I think I am going to use my Karma shower gel... Since I have stepped back from LUSH I have been liking Karma more so.
I will go into more detail tomorrow about how I felt without LUSH and then again with LUSH.
PS I had to give in a little today, I used my Fresh Farmacy face soap. My face started getting super sensitive with being sick and all.

Two more days
I have been faithful to the no LUSH body wash, hair care and body lotion for a week. With the exception of my hand lotion just because at work I am always putting product on people anyway.
So I am really missing the smells of everything and the way it feels after. My showers are not as exciting. I am bored in the shower...
I think that is all stuff I mentioned in my last post.
The back of my arms and thighs have developed more ingrown hair bumps. I know, gross. I can't even think back to when I was OKAY with the way my skin is now and I just thought it was normal and that's just how my skin would be forever.
LUSH has shown me the potential within my body and that I can have super model skin and hair without the airbrush. LUSH brings out the natural beauty and glow that all the chemical based products hide and coat. I'm starting to think LUSH is a self esteem booster for me. Today at work every time that I caught ta glimpse of my hair in the mirror I thought I looked awful all around.
It really has been helping my selling at work and help me connect with my customers more because not all of them are full on LUSHIES.
I will write more tomorrow about how this assignment helps me sell at work.

Third shower without LUSH.

((Here is a photo of how poorly my hair drys without LUSH. The ends are frizzy and damaged and the drys waving as if I have slept on it wet. No make up and face expression are only meant to add to the drama.))
My skin is itchy but not horribly itchy. My back, scalp and backs of my arms seem to be the most irritated. I have dry patches of skin (small bumpy areas that itch) developing on my shoulders/arms.
My hair feels like a weird combination of waxy and dry... and snarly.
I really miss how LUSH smells are so rich but they're naturally rich. Also, LUSH seems to be the only shampoo/conditioner that actually adds volume when it says 'volumizing' on the bottle. I have always said that and just proved it to be correct.
LUSH conditioners I can put from root to ends on my hair. Regular conditioners I have to focus on the ends, otherwise my hair gets weighed down and oils at the roots, but now my roots seem to be unhappy. I will for sure be straightening my hair tomorrow to try to work out some kinks.
I miss the obvious of how moisturizing LUSH products in general is. When it comes to people with dry skin, I always make the point that it goes back to what you use to wash your body with. I am only proving that to be more than true.
ALSO one thing I did not think would have made a huge difference is that the oily sugar scrubs (Body Shop and Bath and Body Works) I am substituting for my Buffy body butter does not last nearly as long to get the same effect. My large Buffy will last up to three months and I have used half of a tub of scrub in three showers.
My showers are for sure shorter now and no longer what I look forward to everyday, like I used to with LUSH.
No worries, LUSH and I will be back together in my shower Tuesday night.

It's been 24 hours
I have had two showers with no LUSH product. At first it was kind of exciting to use something new and different. I am enjoying the different smells, smells that I have not smelt from LUSH. Right now I am using a Bath and Body Works lime and coconut shampoo and conditioner.
You know what, LUSH does have a lime and coconut shampoo.
This brings me to point out why this change is a big deal. LUSH is very natural and gentle on the skin. LUSH lime and coconut is the natural smell vs. the shampoo I am using now that is artificial. My scalp seems to be a little itchy (not sure if this is psychological). My hair seems in okay condition.
I really hope my skin doesn't freak.
The shower gel is okay. A little irritating on the lady parts. My eye cream and makeup remover stings a little.
The lotions smell lovely and are nice a thick. They don't rub in as well, I feel like I have to work at it and they leave my skin looking pale/white.
And my legs started getting itchy in the middle of class today.

This is a big part of my life

My relationship with LUSH Cosmetics goes back almost three years now. I started using before it was in Milwaukee and it started off slow. Granted my first purchase was $130, it still started slow.
When it came to Milwaukee, I didn't purchase right away. I sampled Fresh Farmacy and still had my large Ocean Salt Scrub. Like I said, it was a slow but serious relationship.
Then I got the job and the full time hours. All of my products were switched over to LUSH within the last year and a half. I even started using products I never used before or didn't even know they existed. Like hair masks, toner, solid lotion, foot masks, face masks, eye cream and even lotion. Before this love affair, I was never in the habit of putting lotion on and I used Suave haircare.
It's an addiction. I have pounds of soap stocked up and up to 50 different bath products stocked up. My china cabinet soon became a LUSH store. This situation made the perfect set up for my Self-deprivation Assignment. Although I work with the product and constantly touch the product while showing customers, I will be transforming my shower. Specifically my haircare, skincare (face and body), body wash and lotions. In JMC 307 Joette asked what I gave up for this assignment and after my response there was a loud gasp from the classroom.
Here is before and after in my shower.

This should be fun...
